City of New Haven assigned this issue to Manager of Operations, Process Improvement - Transportation, Traffic, & Parking

I want to keep this open because it has not been addressed. I appreciate my neighbor Tommy chiming in about how it works to drive on this street. The answer is that, when there is a bike on the right (and sometimes when there is no bike, just wide cars), the cars have to essentially become a single lane anyway. So, the lanes merge with each other. We are probably agreeing with each other that it should be a single lane with a proper bike lane.

I wish someone in the city would reply to this comment. I like Tommy’s suggestion that there be some kind of a study or survey of how these two blocks of this road is being used! I still don’t think it’s safe for either cars or bikes, because of the incredibly fast lane switching the cars are forced to do as a result of the crowding. But nevertheless the comment based on safety should be answered!

Nothing has changed about this street except the pedestrian crossing added at Wall St, which is good. But a few days ago, a car double parked and bikes had to go around the car, surprising drivers in the left hand lane. The two blocks between Grove and Elm are very congested for bikes, cars and trucks!
